THAILAND ONLY: Social Media Marketing Myths.
Myth #1: You need a lot of followers to be successful
in Social Media
Long were the days when the number of Page Likes determined your success on Social Media. Where it maybe a rough indication of how “POPULAR” your page/brand maybe, it does not at all determine your success or failure. This is because just like the number of views on a video, the number of Page Likes are just an overall counter that started counting since Day 1. This doesn’t reflect the traffic your content or your page receives on the daily basis. The right indicator to look will be Reach and Engagement.
Reach is the number of people your posts has reached while Post Engagements are the number of times people engage with your posts (Comments, Likes & Shares.)
Hence, a page with 1,000,000 Likes may have a reach of 10,000 per week as its content is not engaging while a page with 10,000 Likes may have a reach of 1,000,000 per week due to its interactive content. Therefore, it is important to know that it’s not like Page Likes that matters, it’s REACH & ENGAGEMENT!
Myth #2: You need to post at least 1 post a day.
The trick to social media isn’t in the number of posts you post daily. There’s no right number of posts for a particular page. The core of social media marketing comes down to 2 golden rules, one is consistency the other is trial & error. In this case, what you need to find out is what kind of content your audience like and the best times to post. How do you know when and what to post? You try and learn from your audiences. It’s all about getting your hands dirty and learn from the experience, there’s no way to understand the core of social media marketing until you get your hands into it.
Myth #3: You need a lot of money to be successful in Social Media
This is one of the major misconceptions in Social Media Marketing. Just like in Online Gaming, money makes the game easier but it doesn’t mean you’ll win the game. It all comes down to the skills. Same goes for social media. A great content will not require any advertising to reach a great deal of people while a good content will never reach its potential without a little push while a mediocre content can reach the masses with a good amount of advertising.
Here’s a trick to remember:
#1 If you are doing a content intended for the masses, let the content do the work.
#2 If you are doing a content intended for a specific group of people, put in some advertising with the right audience targeting.
#3 If you are doing a bad content, redo your content or don’t do it at all. You’re wasting your money.
If #1 and #2 doesn’t apply to you, then your content is probably bad, please look at #3.
